Jacqui Hames returns to Crimewatch

Jacqui first appeared on BBC One’s Crimewatch series in 1990, remaining with the show for sixteen years. The former Metropolitan Police detective is to join the shows’ daytime spin-off Crimewatch Roadshow from next month.

Hames will join resident presenter Rav Wilding in the studio during the live daytime crime fighting show, appearing every Friday, for four weeks, updating viewers on the progress of Crimewatch Roadshow appeals, and explaining how their calls have helped to solve some crucial cases.

Jacqui says she’s thrilled to be joining the programme: “I’m delighted to be working on such an exciting and important live programme. Crimewatch Roadshow helps the police solve some really distressing crimes and I’m looking forward to keeping viewers updated on some of the cases we’ve highlighted.”

Jacqui first appeared on Crimewatch in 1990, presenting live TV appeals featuring some of the country’s highest profile crimes. She co-presented the BBC flagship show for 16 years. As a former detective, Jacqui specialised in major crime investigations. She was part of the launch team for the UK’s first Crimestoppers unit at New Scotland Yard which was spun out of ITV’s Police 5 series. She has also worked at the National Crime and Operations Faculty on operations to identify serial offenders using policing methods such as analysis, psychological, geographic and forensic profiling.

Live each weekday morning from 9.15am, former detective Rav Wilding will be asking viewers for their help to solve crimes featured in dramatic reconstructions, catch criminals caught on CCTV, and spot wanted faces. BBC News correspondent Sian Lloyd will be out and about reporting live from nine police force areas including, Greater Manchester Police, the Metropolitan Police, South Wales Police and West Midlands Police.

Crimewatch Roadshow starts on  June 10th on BBC One.
