ITV repeat Emmerdale after technical problem
Technical fault causes primetime slot to be unviewable for millions of viewers.
ITV was forced to repeat a one hour long edition of Emmerdale last night after a technical problem left viewers across a number of the station’s regions temporarily unable to access the channel.
The episode – originally scheduled for 7pm – was dedicated to the late Richard Thorp and also saw the return of Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen) following a lengthy absence.
The timing of the fault and its duration varied depending on the ITV region, with some areas on the network unaffected by the problems while Freview users were also not subject to the issues. Affected platforms were Satellite TV, Sky and Freesat.
Sky viewers missed out on the 7pm edition of Emmerdale last night.
ITV aired Emmerdale again from 10.35pm, delaying the highlights of the French Open Trennis. Richard Thorp was the longest serving Emmerdale cast member up until his recent passing. He’d played Alan Turner in the original Emmerdale Farm series from 1982 onwards.
He was also well known for his big screen role in The Dambusters, ATV soaps Emergency Ward 10, The Cedar Tree and Crossroads as well as a long and successful theatre career.
