Jessie J and Will.i.am agonise over their Voice UK finalists
With the first live show almost upon us the Coaches believe they each have the next winner of The Voice UK on their team, but cannot begin to decide who they will give their second Fast Pass to in the live quarter final.
This week every single one of the Artists have been working hard to make sure they do everything they can to make it through, and the Coaches will have to choose one of their three artists to put through to the semi finals BEFORE the public vote sends one artist home from each team.
Ahead of Friday’s show the Coaches talk about their final three and what makes them head and shoulders above the rest.
On Sarah Cassidy, Jessie says “Sarah wasn’t the person I was going to put through.” But she’s glad she did now and explains “Sarah is the pop star of the team, she’s the beautiful girl that everyone wants to look like, dress like, and be like. She’s very mesmerising.”
Also on her Team is Ash Morgan. “Ash is, for me, The Voice. I get Goosebumps every time he sings, he’s so spectacular.”
Jessie feels with Matt Henry being the only ‘steal’ in the Lives Shows that says a lot: “Matt has definitely raised his game to be here right now. He’s had a journey that no one else is really going through.”
Of his Team, will.i.am claims former pop star Cleo Higgins to be “dynamite”. “ I didn’t put her through because she used to be in Cleopatra I put her through because she is a superstar.”
Another of Team Will is Essex vocal sensation Leanne Jarvis: “Leanne is like the Four Seasons, she can do it all, power, soul, ballads, she can do rock even.”
And Belfast’s own Leah McFall makes up his team and Will explains: “Leah is enchanting. I think she’s the next big sensation that comes out of the UK.”
Next up is Team Danny, and the youngest left in the competition Mitchel Emms. Danny says “He’s a triple threat – powerful, strong, confident. He can really put on a show.”
Speaking of partially-sighted Andrea Begley Danny describes her as having “the most angelic, genuine recording voice.”
And when it comes to Karl Michael, the man who has had two record deals and faced disappointment both times, Danny thinks now is his time: “Karl is a star. I’ve never met a singer that sings with the same amount of passion.”
Last year’s winning Coach Sir Tom Jones believes he has the strongest team of all and most individual singers on the show to see him take the title again: “I think I’ve got three great voices there.”
“I’ve got the beautiful Alys (Williams) who is wonderful singer” and on shy Filipino Joseph Apostol he describes him as “a powerhouse soul singer – he can sing anything you put in front of him.”
With Salford lad and Country singer Mike Ward completing the Team, Tom explains: “Mike has got his own individual sound. He ticks all the boxes.”
But with another ‘Fast Pass’ to be given to one Act on each team, the Coaches are already finding the prospect difficult.
Will says: “It’s going to be tough. I don’t want to think about it right now.” And it seems neither does Danny: “I’m not looking forward to making that decision at all.”
While Tom says: “They’re all great singers and I need to see who the greatest one is,” and Jessie admits: “ The person I’ll be taking through is the person that blows my mind. And right now I don’t know who that is.”
The Voice UK Live Quarter Final on Friday, 7th June, 7.00pm, BBC One, and Results Show at 9.30pm
