Corrie’s surrogacy storyline comes to a head
This coming week as Tina and Izzy are notified of their first court appearance it’s clear the fight for the baby is taking it’s toll on both women in Coronation Street.
However as the week goes on the surrogacy situation seems to come to a conclusion.

Heartfelt, Tommy (Chris Fountain) urges Tina (Michelle Keegan) to consider how baby ‘Joe’ will feel to know she robbed him of the chance to be raised by his biological parents. Meanwhile Izzy’s resigned to the fact a legal battle will take years and even if they win they’ll have to tear the baby away from Tina.
Tina’s in turmoil over Tommy’s words but when Izzy (Cherylee Houston) arrives at the hospital telling Tina she’s won, she won’t fight her anymore, Tina’s thrown. As Izzy says a heart-breaking goodbye to her son a distraught Gary (Mikey North), is forced to accept her decision.
Tina and Izzy are both at breaking point as they face up to the reality of baby Jake’s future life. After an emotional showdown Gary, Izzy and Tina make steps to move on with their lives.
Tina ultimately decides its for the best if the baby goes with its natural parents but as there have been many twists and turns over the past few months, we’ll have to see if it stays happy familes for Izzy, Gary and baby Jake.
There have been a number of a surrogacy storylines in soaps over the years including a Brookside storyline in 1998 that saw Jacqui Dixon paid to be a surrogate mother for Max and Susannah Farnham, while earlier in 1974 unmarried mother Sheila Harvey arranged a surrogacy deal for sister-in-law and brother Jill and Stan Harvey to adopt her child once born in Crossroads.
