EastEnders to air five night week
EastEnders will be transmitting every week night on BBC One, in a week that sees the return of Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) and the disappearance of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry).
From Monday 9th September the show will air across five consecutive nights – additionally the episode airing on Wednesday 11th September will run for one hour.
In what is being billed as a “big week” for the soap Ronnie is released from prison after serving two years for switching her son James – victim to cot death – for Kat (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie Moon’s (Shane Richie) healthy new born son Tommy.
As she steps outside the prison Ronnie is surprised to see Kat waiting for her but will the two women be able to move on from what happened?
Ronnie’s release will cause a rift between Alfie and his fiancée Roxy (Rita Simons) – who is torn between the man she loves and her sister – while Ronnie’s ex-husband Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) is also expected to feel the repercussions of her return to the Square.

Meanwhile, Carl (Daniel Coonan) is annoyed when Shirley starts to meddle in his affairs following next week’s dramatic car crash which leaves Phil (Steve McFadden) fighting for his life in hospital.
Although Shirley is planning to start a new life in Greece, she can’t resist letting Carl know that he’s up to no good. Carl threatens Shirley but when she is defiant he realises he is going to have to get his message across in another way and confronts her at the Arches.
Later, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) is baffled that Shirley has left for Greece without one of her prized possessions. She tries calling Shirley and viewers will discover that Shirley’s mobile phone – and some of her other possessions – have been dumped in a bin in the market.
How far has Carl gone in his quest to silence Shirley?
