Coronation Street bosses to reintroduce Kevin Webster gradually

Kevin Webster, played by Michael Le VellCoronation Street bosses will reintroduce the character of Kevin Webster gradually, according to The Mirror.

The car mechanic will return to the soap after a jury found actor Michael Le Vell not guilty of 12 child sex charges. Kevin has been absent from the ITV soap since February when legal proceedings against Le Vell began.

Writers hastily explained the character’s absence as Kevin flying to Germany to care for his sick father Bill.

The paper reports that producers are keen not to sensationalise Kevin’s reappearance so will ease him back in with mentions by other characters first. However, they have reportedly promised Le Vell a major role in a Christmas storyline.

The Mirror also reports that Le Vell plans to release a book about his two years of hell in which will claim he is “another victim of Jimmy Savile”.

But a prosecutor insists that a “celebrity witch hunt” was not the reason behind the trial.
