Box Set of all Nick Berry era Heartbeat to be released

The Yorkshire Television production for ITV is heading to DVD.

The Yorkshire Dales were the backdrop for the sixties set police saga.

Heartbeat, the Yorkshire Television saga set in the 1960s, and the fictional world of Aidensfield Village, focused on the staff of the local police station with former EastEnders actor Nick Berry taking the lead. Now all of Berry’s episodes are to be contained in one box set.

Heartbeat became a staple of ITV’s Sunday night schedules running for two decades and peaking with 14 million viewers. Between 1992 and 1998 Berry starred as PC Nick Rowan with storylines revolving around local crime, the personal lives of the police team and several others in the village including lovable rogue Claude Jeremiah Greengrass, barmaid Gina and district nurse Maggie.

With a host of colourful characters that viewers took to their heart, illustrious guest stars and a wonderfully nostalgic soundtrack, Heartbeat scooped many prestigious awards – including Best Performing Peak-Time Drama in 1999, beating Coronation Street, and several ITV Programme of the Year awards. – Network

As well as over 90 regular episodes the set also features the 1999 special in which Nick and his family begin a new life in Alberta, Canada.

The box set, Heartbeat – The Rowan Years, contains 29 discs with over 5,000 minutes of drama. The DVD is released next month with a RRP of £129.99
