Bruce Forsyth to leave Strictly after current series?

Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daily on Strictly Come DancingRonnie Corbett has suggested that his friend Bruce Forsyth may quit Strictly Come Dancing at the end of this year’s series.

Corbett told The Sun that 85-year-old Forsyth is beginning to feel the strain of hosting the BBC celebrity dancing competition which is now in its ninth year.

“Bruce seems to thrive on entertaining but whether he will thrive after this series of Strictly I don’t know. He must get tired. I think after this series he will give himself a Brucie Bonus.

“Every Saturday is gruelling. It is really hard going. It is not something I could do each week on Saturday nights now. I enjoy working but only on certain things. Bruce is a special breed and his talents are very diverse as he can dance and play the piano.

“But Bruce does not walk down the stairs now — he comes down from the side like a dancer. – Corbett

Forsyth has already missed a few editions of Strictly in recent years and no longer hosts the Sunday results show.

Corbett has previously stood in for him on the show.

“I tried my hand at Strictly once but it was only for one week,” Corbett noted. “When Bruce called me and told me I was doing it, I nearly fell down the stairs.”

Bruce previously hinted that he was getting fed up of life in Britain after spending part of the year in Puerto Rico with his wife Wilnelia’s family.

It does make me depressed. I’m just back from Puerto Rico, where my  wife’s family lives and it’s 85°F there.

I don’t know why I come back to this stinking cold place. – Forsyth
