Katherine Kelly ‘doesn’t miss’ her Corrie Character

Katherine Kelly, who played Becky McDonald on ITV’s Coronation Street, has said she doesn’t miss playing the soap opera character.

Fans has been tweeting recently to the actress that she should return to the Weatherfield set saga, however Kelly has ruled out any return in the near future.

Viewers had hoped to see Becky return as part of the farewell storyline of Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) with the two characters, along with Hayley’s hubby Roy (David Neilson), being good friends.

I can’t imagine it’d be in the near future. It’s not like I could go back while doing Mr Selfridge – what would I do with my hair? It’d take three goes to get it blonde and I’d need to be tanned. Logistically, it wouldn’t work. – Kelly speaking to The Daily Mail

She did however admit she may return to the long running serial in the distant future, adding:

I miss everyone on Coronation Street but I don’t miss playing Becky. The work schedule was gruelling but it’s the greatest training ground and I had such a fun time.

Kelly played the role of loudmouth Becky for six years, but has since gone on to star in period drama Mr Selfridge, the factual saga about the life of the flamboyant retailer and his London store. Kelly plays Lady Mae Loxley with Jeremy Piven as Selfridge.

The next series of Mr Selfridge has moved on five years. It’s 1914 now and the war is brewing… Halfway through the series, some of the Selfridges staff have to go off to fight so they get women in to do the men’s jobs. – Kelly speaking to The Daily Mail

Last week Katherine announced on Twitter that she was expecting her first child to husband Ryan Clark. Having dated for three years they married in Las Vegas in August.
