From SAS to The Card Shark gets extended run at the Royal Institution. Starring Steve Truglia – a man of many talents. From his guise as a Bond film stuntman, world record breaker, professional musician or award-winning magician, he knows how to wow an audience.
In recognition of his breathtaking mastery and accomplishment in magic, Steve was recently awarded the title of Associate of the Inner Magic Circle with the highest honour of Silver Star. He showcases his astonishing skills in close-up card magic and baffling sleight of hand in The Card Shark Show: mixing film, music and live action, this interactive one-man show draws the audience into the dark and murky world of gamblers and gangsters, tracing the history of classic card scams and tricks and revealing the card cheat’s influence through the ages on modern magic.
A career serving with the Territorial Army, Royal Marines Reserves and Special Forces Reserves might not seem like the natural springboard to a calling as a magician, but Steve attributes his interest in magic to his time in the Forces, where he learned about the use of psychological tricks in defeating the enemy, including misdirection and manipulation. This triggered a fascination with the similar skills and tricks used by con-artists and gambling cheats, and with their impact on card magic, inspiring him eventually to write and produce The Card Shark Show and to mesmerise and mystify delighted audiences.
This stylish and polished production boasts Joanie Spina as Artistic Director, whose credits also include Ghost the Musical on Broadway and the David Copperfield Show.
The Card Shark Show’s popularity has ensured that it is now into an extended run, with additional performances taking place on September 6th, 13th, 20th and October 11th and 14th in its new home at the Royal Institution in Albemarle Street, Mayfair.
