Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas declared bankrupt

Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas has been declared bankrupt.

The 29-year-old actor has played the role of as nice-but-dim builder Jason Grimshaw in the ITV soap since December 2000.

A tabloid report in 2010 suggested he earnt up to 160k a year for the role.

Thomas – who lives in Cheadle, Greater Manchester –  filed for bankruptcy in August with the notice appearing yesterday (11 October).

He has one child with former Corrie co-star Tina O’Brien who played Sarah-Louise Platt in the soap.

Thomas and O’Brien started dating in 2003 with their daughter Scarlett born in October 2008. The couple split a year later in November 2009.
