Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh has filed for divorce from her husband Jamie Lomas, according to The Mirror.
Marsh, 37, who has played the role of feisty Michelle Connor since 2006, started divorce proceedings last week and has cited “unreasonable behaviour” on behalf of EastEnders newcomer Lomas as the reason behind the split.
The news follows recent tabloid revelations that Kym enjoyed a steamy affair behind Jamie’s back with former Corrie co-star Oliver Mellor who played Dr Carter in the ITV soap.
Kym desperately tried to make the marriage work for the sake of their daughter but it’s become obvious that things can’t continue.
“She wants what’s best for her kids. Obviously she is gutted but she is relieved that a line has been drawn under things after a difficult few weeks. – A friend of Kym’s quoted by The Mirror
The Sunday Mirror recently reported that police were called to Kym and Jamie’s home after Jamie flew into an “alcohol-fuelled rage” prior to the cheating allegations being made public.
The couple began dating in 2008 and tied the knot last year – they have a daughter Polly together, born in 2011, while Marsh has two other children from a previous relationship.
Marsh was previously married to another EastEnders star, Jack Ryder, the couple divorced in 2009 after Kym admitted adultery with Jamie.
