Jessica Lange has announced she is to depart FX series American Horror Story after the next series.
Lange, who has appeared in three series, says the fourth will be her final outing. The series is described by FX as an ‘anthology series’ which sees each season as a self-contained miniseries, following a disparate set of characters and settings, and a storyline with its own beginning, middle, and end to the plot. So far 64-year-old Lange has played Constance Langdon a mother who haunts her former home with her children in the present day and the stern Sister Jude in a 1960s mental institution.
Thanks to the series she has won a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award. However speaking to BuzzFeed the actress says the fourth series will be her final.
I’ll do one more season… That’ll be it.
Production boss Ryan Murphy however thinks she might not be leaving the horror behind her just yet. He told the Hollywood Reporter recently he could see the show running for over a decade, and he thinks Lange may be there for more than the first four years.
I think it’s limitless because it re-energises every year, and I would love for Jessica Lange to be part of it every year.
