Celebrity Auction brings bids flooding in for Sir Bobby Robson

Newcastle United: St Jame's Park

A charity auction backed by Bill Nighy, Amanda Holden, Sir Alex Ferguson, Piers Morgan, Lorraine Kelly and David Walliams will draw to a close this weekend after raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for cancer services.

Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Auction has already seen thousands of bids flood in and raised over 100 thousand pounds in memory of England football coach, Sir Bobby Robson who died of cancer in 2009.

Bill Nighy, known for his performances in Love Actually and Pirates of the Carribean, has offered to have a face-to-face lunch with whoever offers the highest bid when the auction closes this Sunday at 7pm.

Also up for grabs is a tour round Lorraine Kelly’s studio, tickets to the JLS Goodbye concert, a set of David Walliams bestselling children’s books and tickets to the hit program Britain’s Got Talent with Amanda Holden.

The auction has had support from sell-out music festivals Latitude, Reading and Cornbury with tickets to all three 2014 festivals also helping to raise cash.

I am delighted to contribute to the Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough Online Charity Auction and help raise £1million for cancer services. Sir Bobby was renowned for his passion and positivity, qualities that went well beyond the football field and inspired people across the country. I encourage people to donate an auction item or to get bidding in this wonderful auction. Together we can make a difference, – Amanda Holden, who’s donated Britain’s Got Talent Tickets

With the auction drawing to a close this Sunday 27th October, organisers are urging people across the country to get involved now.

Proudly backed by headline supporter BT Sport, Sir Bobby’s Breakthrough will raise crucial funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and cancer services within two Suffolk Hospitals.
