Channel 5 is to air the brand new series of LazyTown as part of the broadcasters popular preschool strand, Milkshake!
Things are upside-down in LazyTown. The programme introduces Stephanie, an optimistic girl with bright pink hair, who comes to live in LazyTown and meets a zany mix of townspeople, including the world’s laziest super-villain, Robbie Rotten. Fortunately for Stephanie, the town is also under the watchful eye of Sportacus, an athletic, super-active SuperHero, who runs, jumps, flips and flies to the rescue in his futuristic SportShip. Sportacus always manages to save the day and help the children of LazyTown foil Robbie’s latest lazy schemes. The other children of LazyTown are inquisitive, adventurous, playful, and like Stephanie, just trying to figure out their own worlds.
LazyTown is a worldwide phenomenon and I’m positive the adventures of Stephanie, Sportacus and the gang will be loved by our Milkshake! audience. – Jessica Symons, Head of Children’s at Channel 5
The children of LazyTown all have strengths and weaknesses that children can identify with. For example: Ziggy loves the sweet things in life but struggles to make healthy choices, Stingy has a hard time seeing the benefits of sharing, Pixel is learning how to respect his mind and body by moderating his computer and TV use, Trixie is learning how to make friends by not hurting others and Stephanie is trying to stay true to what feels right for her.
LazyTown has aired in more than 170 countries, reaching 500 million homes, and is a well-established and top performing preschool show. The latest series airs on Channel 5 from November.
