David Essex on EastEnders’ Eddie Moon
David Essex has spoken about the chance of returning to BBC One serial EastEnders.
The Winters Tale singer spoke about his stint on the east London set saga noting that while he originally said he could only do a five-month period with the show, which he enjoyed, he hasn’t been asked back since by producers – not even for the funeral of one of his on-screen children.
Essex played antiques dealer (Edward) Eddie Moon in 2011. Initially he seemed keen to reprise the role on an ‘as and when’ basis should the opportunity arise, but speaking to Magic AM today the actor and singer said he wasn’t fussed about returning anymore to the BBC One show that has been struggling to gain interest from viewers of late.
“If they wanted me to come back they’d have asked me surely when my son Michael Moon was killed off recently. They’ve not asked me back and I don’t particularly want to go back.” – David Essex speaking to Magic AM.
Essex added that Eddie Moon is probably enjoying himself in Spain far too much to return to Walford anyway.
EastEnders’ new producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins hopes to reverse the fortunes of the soap’s storylines in the coming weeks.
