Tulisa convicted of assault

The X Factor TulisaTulisa Contostavlos has been convicted of assault.

The singer was, earlier today, found guilty of assaulting celebrity blogger Savvas Morgan alias Vas J Morgan.

In light of the verdict the former X Factor judge must pay a £200 fine, a £20 victim surcharge, £100 compensation and £2,700 in court costs.

“I’m pleased we can finally put an end to this and move on. It’s been a difficult time for everyone involved and I’d just like to put it behind me. “I’ve had my character questioned and now feel vindicated by the verdict.” – Morgan

Tulisa has always denied the assault which is said to have taken place at last year’s V festival.

Gareth Varey, the star’s personal assistant, was cleared of threatening behaviour at Stratford Magistrates’ Court.

Earlier this week, Tulisa’s drugs trial collapsed at Southwark Crown Court due to “serious misconduct” on behalf of the investigative journalist responsible for the sting that led to the trial, Mazher Mahmood.
