ITV orders full series of The Delivery Man

ITV has ordered a full series of The Delivery Man, a previously piloted sitcom based around a male midwife.

The Delivery Man stars Darren Boyd in the role of Matthew, a policeman who decides upon an unlikely change of career when he opts to become a midwife.

The broadcaster has commissioned a six-instalment run of the sitcom, in which Boyd is joined by actress and stand-up performer Aisling Bea, following a well-received pilot edition which also starred Fay Ripley, Alex Macqueen and Dominic Coleman.

The Green Wing‘s Robert Harley and James Henry will deliver the scripts for the series that is expected to air on the commercial network’s main channel in mid-2015.

Boyd is best known for his BAFTA-honoured appearances in Sky1’s Spy and for playing John Cleese in the drama Holy Flying Circus.
