Sky 1 strikes deal with Warner Bros for ‘The Flash’ and ‘Forever’
Sky 1 HD is to air American dramas The Flash and Forever after an acquisitions deal with Warner Bros for the UK rights to the programmes.
From executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg The Flash follows the high-speed adventures of the fastest man alive. Central City Police scientist Barry Allen has been standing still emotionally since the day his mother was murdered and his father unjustly jailed for the crime. But when an unexpected and devastating accident at the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator facility strikes Barry, he finds himself suddenly charged with the incredible power to move at super speeds. Barry sets out to use his newfound superhero powers to stop crime. Working alongside his adopted father Detective West (Jesse L. Martin), Barry uses his superhuman abilities to help the people of Central City and stop the rogues ‘ gallery of villains, many of whom have also been altered by the particle accelerator explosion.
While Forever from executive producer/writer Matt Miller and executive producers Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz, sees Dr Henry Morgan, a star New York City medical examiner, embark on a journey to answer that looming question. Henry has a vested interest in studying the dead – he is immortal and only his best friend and confidant, Abe knows his secret – he hasn’t aged at all since the clock stopped 200 years ago. Henry’s affliction becomes increasingly difficult to hide when he meets recently widowed NYPD detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza, Law & Order) who is fascinated by Henry after learning he was the sole survivor of a horrific train crash – and his knowledge proves extremely helpful to her in solving crimes. Living through two centuries lends an expert eye to Henry’s professional work, but it also leads to many personal questions; will he ever discover why he can’t die and will Jo figure out who Henry really is?
“I am delighted to announce that these two dramas are coming to Sky 1, adding to our portfolio of energetic US dramas. The Flash is a natural partner to Arrow and is sure to be popular with families who are fans of the comic book format and the mesmerising otherworldly drama, Forever, completes a double of quality series that I’m proud to be airing on the channel.” – Adam MacDonald, Director of Sky 1 HD
