Post-apocalyptic drama The Last Ship docks on Sky 1

Sky 1

Sky 1 has acquired the exclusive UK television rights to the post-apocalyptic drama series The Last Ship.

The series will join the channel’s portfolio of American dramas, including two new acquisitions announced earlier today Forever and The Flash. From blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay and based on the best-selling novel by William Brinkley, The Last Ship is described by producers as ‘an action-packed military thriller’.

The drama stars Eric Dane and British actress Rhona Mitra. The ten episode series opens with a global pandemic that has nearly decimated the world’s population. After four months of radio silence in remote Antarctica, the crew of the U.S.S. Nathan James is heading home with microbiologist Rachel Scott (Mitra), the only person who might hold the key to stopping the virus. But the crew and its captain (Dane) must wrestle with the reality of their miraculous existence in a world where they are among the few remaining survivors. Their last mission is the world’s only hope – stay alive until a cure is found, for our future, our families and for all humanity.

“I am delighted to announce that The Last Ship is coming to Sky 1, adding to our portfolio of energetic and thrilling US dramas. This drama delivers the gripping, edge of your seat viewing that Sky 1 customers love and the even better news is that they don’t have to wait long to start watching.” – Adam MacDonald, Director of Sky 1 HD

The Last Ship has already been renewed for a second thirteen episode run stateside. Sky 1 have acquired the production in a deal with Warner Bros.
