Spice Girls may not have ‘passed’ The X Factor auditions says Mel B
Singer Mel B says she isn’t sure her former girl group the Spice Girls would have made it through The X Factor auditions.
“Oh God I don’t know how the Spice Girls would have worked out if they’d auditioned for this show. I’d like to think that they would get through but I don’t know.”
On fellow X Factor judges and what their spice names would have been she added,
“Cheryl she’s gorgeous… what would her Spice Girl name be? Something obvious like Geordie Spice. Louis [Walsh] for sure would be Nutty Spice because he’s a little bit out there. Simon… I don’t want to say anything about Simon because I don’t want to get fired, so I’ll leave that one…”
The Spice Girls burst onto the pop scene in 1999 with Ginger (Geri Halliwell), Sporty (Melanie Chisholm) Baby (Emma Bunton), Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham) and Melanie Brown as Scary Spice. Hits included 2 Become 1 and Spice Up Your Life.
“I think we all can be pretty sure ‘Posh’ wouldn’t have made it through The X Factor, after all you do have to be able to sing. Well unless you’re Irish twins and Louis likes the look of you.” – TV critic Queenie.
The X Factor airs on ITV from this weekend.
