Peter Capaldi has signed up for a second series of Doctor Who and a Christmas special, according to The Sun.

“Peter is the perfect Doctor. He’s a life-long fan of the show and a great actor. He wanted to do another series and the BBC wanted him back. It’s hoped that he’ll play the role for years.” – Doctor Who source
Yesterday, Capaldi and co-star Jenna Coleman who plays current companion Clara were in Cardiff for a premiere airing of their first episode, Deep Breath.
Speaking to BBC Radio Wales at the event, show-runner Steven Moffat said of the new doctor:
“He’s a brand new, slightly shocking, extremely funny, charismatic doctor, and it’s that wonderful thing – he’s very, very different and yet he’s exactly the same. That’s the thing about the Doctor, the Doctor is always kind of the same, but you couldn’t have a bigger contrast to the Matt Smith version.”
Doctor Who will return for its eighth series on Saturday 23rd August.
