ITV is to air a music special with 1980s pop group Spandau Ballet, hosted by former Daybreak presenter Christine Bleakley.

Having first burst onto the music scene over 30 years ago, the New Romantics soon dominated the charts with tracks including, True, Gold and Through The Barricades selling over 25 million albums world wide.

ITV has teamed up with the band for what they call ‘an exciting TV exclusive’ as they perform some of their greatest hits live in the studio and take a trip down memory lane, charting their rise to fame. From their humble beginning growing up in North London to becoming one of the biggest UK bands, topping the charts and performing sell out concerts around the world.

Hosted by Christine Bleakley, the pin ups, who cemented the New Romantic scene within music history, will discuss their long spanning careers, which saw them emerge from the underground club scene in the early 80’s to become teen idols with armies of fans.  They will talk through their acrimonious split to their successful reunion, which has seen them sell out the O2, perform at the Isle Of Wight Festival and more recently announce their documentary film Soul Boys of the Western World.

“Fans will be treated to unique performances of their biggest hits which include To Cut a Long Story Short, Gold, Through The Barricades and True, which is one of the most played songs in history.”  – ITV

Spandau Ballet: True Gold is a Shiver production for ITV with an air date yet to be announced.
