The X Factor: Lola Saunders becomes the seventh act to depart the competition

SYCO/THAMES TV/ITVLola Saunders has become the seventh act to leave The X Factor.

“This experience has been life changing. It’s amazing. Thank you to everyone who votes [and] I appreciate the judges comments every time.” – Lola

Tonight’s results programme saw Lola and Stereo Kicks sing for survival after gaining the fewest number of votes from the public.  In the sing off Lola sang (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin, while Stereo Kicks covered Pink’s Perfect.

After each act had performed the judges delivered their verdicts with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini  and Louis Walsh unsurprisingly choosing to stand by their own.

Mel B: “I’m actually annoyed at Stereo Kicks because I do think that was your best performance – why haven’t you brought that every single time? That’s annoying. So for me, tonight, I’m going to send home Lola.”

Simon Cowell: “If I’m really judging this on who sang the best tonight, it’s very easy. The person who sang the best in this sing off tonight is Lola, so I’m sending home Stereo Kicks.”

With two votes a-piece the vote was taken to Deadlock with Dermot O’Leary revealing that Lola had received fewer votes from the public than Stereo Kicks and would therefore be leaving the competition.

Cheryl said of her departing act : “She’s fantastic. She’s grown and grown throughout this competition. She’s special [and] I love her.”

Last night Jack Walton became the sixth act to leave the show in a shock ‘Fright Night’ elimination.

The X Factor continues next Saturday at 8.00pm on ITV.
