Mel B to make Coronation Street appearance for Text Santa

Mel B has teamed up with Coronation Street for Text Santa.

Following in the footsteps of her X Factor co-star Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Mel will be making an appearance in the soap as part of this year’s charity appeal.

“It’s great that Mel B will be a guest star in the special Coronation Street sketch for Text Santa. Viewers will be able to tune in on December 19 to see her with the cast of Corrie.” – An ITV source told Digital Spy

Text Santa has raised £15 million for charities since it started in 2011 with the money distributed equally between six chosen charities.

UK based charities were invited to apply to become a Text Santa beneficiary earlier this year for 2014’s appeal and following a selection process, this year’s selection are, Alzheimer’s Society, Guide Dogs, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Teenage Cancer Trust, Together for Short Lives and WellChild.

This year’s appeal will have the usual mix of live studio entertainment, alongside mini-episodes of some of ITV’s leading shows with Downton Abbey confirmed to be doing a special featuring George Clooney.

Text Santa‘s fourth appeal will air on ITV on Friday 19th December and will be presented by Ant & Dec, Phillip Schofield, Christine Bleakley, Alesha Dixon and Paddy McGuiness.
