One Born Every Minute gets online spin-off

An online spin-off is to accompany the seventh series of One Born Every Minute.

Offering viewers an insight into the relationship between father and new-born, the six-part series, provisionally titled First Time Fathers, is to be made available as part of Channel 4’s Shorts strand on 4oD. It will be produced by Dragonfly who are also behind the parent series.

The spin-off will provide a “fresh, honest and endearing perspective on the challenges of becoming a new parent”, according to Dragonfly’s joint managing director, Lucinda Hicks.

“One Born has an incredibly active and engaged online community and we are continually looking for innovative and entertaining ways to speak with these existing audiences as well as widening out the conversations.” – Hicks

Its launch next spring will coincidence with the return of the award-winning One Born Every Minute which depicts the activities of a labour ward. Over 150 babies have born on camera since the show first aired in 2010.

Channel4’s Shorts platform launched earlier this year offering ‘original bite-sized content’ primarily to phone and tablet users.
