X Factor quarter-final sees Stereo Kicks eliminated from the competition
Stereo Kicks were voted out of The X Factor in tonight’s quarter-final results show.
“Every act now is amazing, it was always going to be hard tonight.” – Stereo Kicks
The eight-piece band sung for survival alongside Lauren Platt after gaining the fewest number of votes from the public.
In the sing off Stereo Kicks sang I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz, while Lauren performed I Know Where I’ve Been from Hairspray.
After each act had performed the judges delivered their verdicts:
Louis Walsh [Stereo Kicks’ mentor]: “Lauren you sang amazing but I so believe in the eight boys, so the act I’m sending home is Lauren.”
Mel B: “You both sung your hearts out, that was a really good sing off, but the act I’m gonna send home is Lauren and I’m so sorry.”
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini [Lauren’s mentor]: “Obviously I’m going to stick by my girl 100 per cent… Guys you’ve done a great job, you’ve grown a lot [and] you’ve got so much more room to grow, I believe in your future, but the act I’m sending home is Stereo Kicks.
Simon Cowell: “The act that sang the best on the sing off was Lauren. I’m sending home Stereo Kicks.”
With two votes a-piece the vote was taken to Deadlock with Dermot O’Leary revealing that Stereo Kicks had received fewer votes from the public than Lauren and would therefore be leaving the competition.
Tonight’s results show also featured performances by Queen + Adam Lambert, Ella Henderson and Union J.
The X Factor continues with its semi-final next Saturday at 8.00pm on ITV.
