ITV has announced a number of  new factual entertainment shows.

ITV Studios’ factual division, Shiver have been tasked with producing the shows including two more documentaries in the broadcasters’ The Nation’s Favourite strand.

The Nation’s Favourite 70s Number Ones and The Nation’s Favourite 80s Number Ones will do what it says on the tin in counting down the UK’s most-loved hits from these two decades, covering the disco, Glam Rock and heart-throb singers of the 1970s and the power ballads, electro pop and American rockers of the 1980s. Both will air in 2015.

Meanwhile, three-part series Carry On Forever will air on ITV3 and will provide a no-holds-barred insight into the Carry On series.  Utilising classic clips, access to cast members, and previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage, Carry On Forever is the definitive story of the iconic British comedy brand.

Also on the cards is The Magic Show Story, which follows on from last year’s Come On Down: The Game Show Story, and will air on ITV in 2015. The one-off special will tell the tale of how British TV fell in love with magic and how it played host to international stars like David Copperfield. Stephen Mulhern will embark on a journey through 60 years of magic, recreating some of the tricks that left audiences spellbound along the way.

“Shiver has always been, and with these new commissions continues to be, at the forefront of celebrating popular culture. Songs, films and TV moments like these are the DNA of our cultural lives – and give us all a shared, national nostalgia. In shows like these we want to reveal the stories the viewers didn’t know about something they think they know so well. All of these commissions are an excellent illustration of the volume and diversity of programming being made by Shiver, and in the case of these shows, by the Shiver teams in Leeds and MediaCity.” – Creative Director of Shiver, Mark Robinson

Other one-offs include You’ve Got To Love Christmas which will mix classic archive clips with comic tales from comedians, journalists, celebrities and members of the public to entertain viewers in pursuit of the perfect Christmas; and Rita & Me, a tribute to one of Coronation Street‘s longest-running stars, Barbara Knox. Both shows will air next month.
