Channel 4 orders third series of Toast of London

Channel 4 has ordered a third series of Toast of London from Objective Productions.

The sitcom follows the exploits of eccentric middle-aged actor Steven Toast played by Matt Berry, who also co-writes the series with Father Ted‘s Arthur Mathews.

Starring alongside Berry are Doon Mackichan as Toast’s agent Jane Plough and Robert Bathurst as his flatmate Ed Howzer-Black.

The first series aired last year with the second concluding last night, both were preceded by a pilot in 2012 aired as part of 4’s Funny Fortnight season to mark the broadcaster’s 30th anniversary.

Toast of London picked up the Best Sitcom prize at September’s Rose d’Or awards and has been nominated for six awards at next week’s British Comedy Awards.
