Revamped ‘Love Island’ for ITV2
ITV’s defunct reality series Love Island is being revived by ITV2.
The show will land on its new home with a revamped format which will see glamorous members of the public live it up in a posh villa.
“The all new, revamped and reworked Love Island promises excitement, surprises and fun for ITV2 viewers.” – Director of Digital and Acquisitions, ITV, Angela Jain
There’ll be plenty of fun and flirting but, to remain in paradise, the singles will have to win the hearts of the public.
The audience at home will have the power to decide who stays and who goes, until one couple remains, scooping a huge cash prize. Can true love win out on Love Island or is it all a game?
“Our singles will live like celebrities but have to win the hearts of the public to survive. Will they pursue true love or are they just playing a game? The new look Love Island will decide.” – Creative Director, ITV Studios, Richard Cowles
The original series, launched in 2005, featured ‘famous’ personalities and aired as Celebrity Love Island. A second outing the following year saw the word ‘celebrity’ dropped from the title, but still featured ‘famous’ participants.
ITV announced after the second series that it would not be recommissioning the widely-panned show.
