Denise Van Outen will this spring play a guest role in EastEnders.
The as yet unnamed character the actress and presenter will be portraying has been tipped to send “sparks flying through the square” after becoming romantically entangled with one of its male residents.
“I’m really excited to be joining EastEnders as I’ve been a fan of the series for years. 2015 marks the show’s 30th anniversary, so it feels even more special to be part of this year’s celebration.” – Denise Van Outen
The former Big Breakfast host has been linked to a number of possible roles in the BBC soap over the years, with the latest rumours in spring 2013 suggesting that she was being sought to “add a bit of glamour to the Queen Vic” as its new landlady.
“It was only a matter of time before Denise Van Outen walked onto the Square. We cannot wait to have Denise join us for a few episodes, where she will definitely make her presence felt.” – Executive Producer, Dominic Treadwell-Collins
Van Outen’s previous acting credits include Babes In The Wood and Where The Heart Is. She currently presides over a Saturday afternoon slot on Magic FM and appeared as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2012.
EastEnders airs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday on BBC One, with a weekly omnibus also on the channel and erratically scheduled repeats on BBC Three. Viewers can also catch up online via BBC iPlayer
