Hollyoaks bosses have cast Zöe Lucker as a member of the McQueen family.
The actress has taken on the role of Reenie McQueen, daughter of Nana and mother to recent additions Porsche, Celine and Cleo.
“I am really excited to be joining Hollyoaks – especially as a McQueen! Reenie is a very complex character and will, in time, have a very interesting story to tell.” – Zöe Lucker
Lucker has already commenced filming for an April debut in the soap that will see Porsche visit her mother in prison, before she arrives in the village at a later date.
“I am delighted to be working again with Zöe. In my mind there was only one person to tell Reenie’s important story and thankfully she was as intrigued by the character as we are. We are thrilled that Zöe will be becoming a McQueen and know that she will bring Reenie to life for our audience.” – Executive Producer, Bryan Kirkwood
A spokesperson for Hollyoaks added: “Reenie is a good-time party girl without an ‘off’ switch and can be exhausting company although deep down she is the most vulnerable of Nana’s children. She hasn’t set the best example to her three girls, who she raised largely on her own and frequently lets them down. Emotionally she’s got issues and sometimes it’s difficult to tell just who the mother is and who is the daughter.”
Kirkwood previously enlisted Lucker to play the role of Vanessa Gold in EastEnders. The actress is also known for her roles of Tanya Turner and Carol Barry in Footballers Wives and Waterloo Road respectively.
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with a first look on E4 week nights at 7pm and weekend omnibuses on E4. Viewers can also catch up on demand at 4oD.
