Dan McGolpin has been appointed Controller of BBC Daytime.

McGolpin will oversee outside primetime output across BBC One and BBC Two, including The One Show and 6-7pm on BBC Two. He will report to BBC One Controller Charlotte Moore and replaces former Daytime head Damian Kavanagh who is now Digital Controller, BBC Three.

“The BBC offers a fantastic range of high quality programmes in daytime and early-peak and I feel honoured that Charlotte Moore has asked me to lead the team responsible for delivering that. I’m looking forward to working with all of the talented people involved in creating that rich mix of shows across all genres.” – Dan McGolpin

Dan is currently Head of Planning & Scheduling for BBC One, and has worked in channel management roles for BBC Television since 2001, first on BBC Two and then on BBC One before becoming Head of Planning and Scheduling for BBC Three in 2006. Prior to that he spent two years in BBC Strategy working on some of the changes undertaken by the BBC to embrace digital technologies in TV, Radio and Online.

“Dan did a brilliant interview in a very competitive field and showed a real vision for daytime. His background as a scheduler across the BBC portfolio means he has great experience with a broad mainstream audience and a passion for high quality, popular programming across all genres. He has a fantastic strategic mind and an instinctive editorial flair which always puts the viewer first. I am confident Dan will lead the daytime team into an exciting new era.” – Controller of BBC One, Charlotte Moore

Dan will take up his new role in June and the BBC will begin the recruitment process immediately for a new Head of Planning & Scheduling BBC One.
