Daniel O’Donnell confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2015

Daniel O’Donnell is the eighth celebrity confirmed to be taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The Irish singer and entertainer’s participation was announced on BBC Radio 2’s Steve Wright in the Afternoon  today (20 August).

“Earlier this year, I decided to take a short break from touring and told myself that I would only consider doing something if it was both different and exciting, well what could be more exciting than Strictly Come Dancing? I love to dance and boy am I looking forward to getting started and being the best that I can be!” – Daniel O’Donnell

Daniel came to public attention for the first time in 1983 and has since become a household name in Ireland and the UK; he has also had considerable success in the US and Australia. 2012 saw him become the first artist to have a different album in the British charts every year for 25 consecutive years. He has sold over 15 million albums; his music described as a mix of country and Irish folk. He has had twenty UK Top 40 albums as well as fifteen Top 40 singles and has sold 10 million records to date. Success in America has seen 18 of his albums chart in the Top 20 of the United States Billboard’s World Music Album Chart and several entries in the Independent Albums Chart. The singer has a close relationship with his fan base, the beeb notes, and a charismatic and engaging stage presence.

He joins fellow singer Peter Andre, weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, TV and radio presenter Katie Derham, actresses Georgia May Foote and Kellie Bright, TV chef Ainsley Harriott, and presenter and journalist Jeremy Vine in this year’s line-up.
