Strictly Come Dancing confirms ninth contestant as boxer Anthony Ogogo

Professional boxer Anthony Ogogo will be a contestant on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing the BBC has announced.

“I’ve faced a lot of tough opposition in the past, but I’ve never faced anyone as tough as the Strictly judges before! My Mum is a massive fan of the show so I will be trying my hardest to make her proud.” – Anthony

Anthony was a contestant on Big Brother spin-off series Celebrity Hijack in 2008 and has been boxing since the age of 12 with his career seeing numerous medal wins including Bronze at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Following his success at the London 2012 Olympic Games, a post box in his home town of Lowestoft was painted bronze in honour of his medal result.

Anthony is the ninth celebrity confirmed for this years series and joins Daniel O’Donnell, Peter Andre, Carol Kirkwood, Katie Derham, Georgia May Foote, Kellie Bright, Ainsley Harriott and Jeremy Vine in the line-up.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One next month. Further participants will be announced in due course.
