Scotland’s popular current affairs programme Scotland Tonight returns to STV screens next week.

Presented by John MacKay and Rona Dougall, the programme is broadcast live every night on STV, Monday to Thursday at 10.30pm. It provides viewers with a dynamic mix of studio debate, big name interviews and filmed reports. As well as covering politics and news stories, it also features personalities and issues in the worlds of sport, the arts and entertainment.

Social media is part of the programme’s DNA and, as always, the team will be sharing up-to-the-minute reaction and comment from viewers across the country.

“I’m greatly looking forward to Scotland Tonight’s return next week. The political landscape is ever-changing and we’ll be getting the decision makers and opinion formers back into the studio so we can ask them the questions that matter to our viewers.” – John MacKay

The Scotland Tonight team’s commitment to quality coverage has been further enhanced by STV’s appointment of Colin Mackay as Holyrood Editor. Formerly of Bauer Radio, he is one of the country’s most experienced political journalists and joins STV’s RTS Scotland award-winning political editor Bernard Ponsonby in bringing the latest insight to political events both in Scotland and the UK.

STV operate two ITV services in Scotland, with STV North covering northern Scotland and STV Central covering the midlands and southern Scotland.

Scotland Tonight begins on Monday August 24th 2015 at 10.30pm.
