Jamelia joins Strictly Come Dancing 2015 line-up

Jamelia

Jamelia is the twelfth celebrity confirmed to be taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The singer and TV personality’s participation was confirmed by the BBC’s Director of Television, Danny Cohen, ahead of this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival.

“My girls are huge fans of Strictly, but when I told them I was doing it they laughed as they know that dancing is not my forté! The girls are amazing dancers though so I definitely want to learn a new skill so that I’ll be able to give them a run for their money, and end them teasing me once and for all!” – Jamelia

Jamelia has been in the public eye for over fifteen years after being signed aged 15 to a major record label. Her career has seen the release of three studio albums, each of which has received a Top 40 ranking in the UK and collectively spawned a gaggle of top ten hits including Superstar, Money and Thank You. Recent work includes a coaching role on The Voice of Ireland, appearing as a contestant on Bear Grylls’ Mission Survive and being a regular on the panel of ITV Daytime’s female-slanted talk show Loose Women.

Jamelia joins Anita Rani, Jay McGuiness, Anthony Ogogo, Daniel O’Donnell, Peter Andre, Carol Kirkwood, Katie Derham, Georgia May Foote, Kellie Bright, Ainsley Harriott and Jeremy Vine in the line-up.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One next month. The final three participants will be announced later this week.
