Tila Tequila removed from Celebrity Big Brother after less than 24 hours
Tila Tequila was yesterday (28 August) ejected from Celebrity Big Brother after less than 24 hours.
Producers on the reality series rescinded Tequila’s place in the house after becoming aware of controversial views she has expressed online in the past. It is thought the ejection relates to a blog authored by Tequila in 2013 titled ‘Why I Sympathise with Hitler: Part I’.
She describes the Nazi leader as “not a bad person” and “a man who was not a coward [and] stood up for his country in a DESPERATE TIME OF NEED” in the post, while arguing that her views are not anti-Semitic. She also released a picture of herself wearing a Nazi armband and holding a gun in front of Auschwitz concentration camp.
“Unfortunately, Channel 5 and Endemol did not know about the views and attitudes Tila had expressed in social media postings prior to her involvement in Celebrity Big Brother. When they were brought to our attention, she was called to the Diary Room for a discussion with producers and was subsequently removed from the house. The views Tila had expressed, and permitted to remain uncorrected, are totally unacceptable and, accordingly, her continued involvement in the programme was untenable.” – Channel 5
Celebrity Big Brother bosses have been criticised for failing to conduct adequate research on Tequila prior to her entering the house. TMZ reports that they only became aware of the American reality star’s controversial views after the subject of Hitler arose in a discussion between Tequila and her fellow housemates.
Celebrity Big Brother airs nightly on Channel 5.
