ITV’s Good Morning Britain launch ‘Health Star Awards’
Good Morning Britain has today launched a brand-new national awards to reward those people who have gone the extra mile to help someone’s health or save a life.
“From the day we are born, and throughout our whole lives we meet people who are involved in our health care. From those who work in the NHS to volunteers for charities, I’m sure we’ve all encountered someone who has helped with a health-related issue and who we’d like to properly thank, there are certainly individuals I can think of. This April, GMB wants to recognise and reward some of these exceptional people in our first Health Star awards.” – GMB Presenter, Susanna Reid
Recognising the best in British healthcare, the awards are for anyone who has gone above and beyond what is expected of them. Nominees could include a hospital consultant, junior doctor, mental health practitioner, GP, community nurse or just an ordinary member of the public who has helped someone in a health related matter.
The awards launched today with the Good Morning Britain presenters revealing their own personal ‘Health Stars’ and appealing to viewers to get in touch with theirs. The categories that viewers can nominate in are Hospital Health Star, Lifesaver Health Star and Community Health Star and the closing date is Friday 11th March.
After entries have been submitted, the Good Morning Britain judging panel will decide the winner in each category and they will be awarded at a special ceremony at the Hilton Park Lane in London on Thursday 14th April.
The awards will be fronted by Susanna Reid, Piers Morgan, Ben Shephard, Kate Garraway, Charlotte Hawkins, Ranvir Singh, Sean Fletcher and Dr Hilary Jones. Good Morning Britain viewers can watch the awards on the programme the morning after the awards – Friday 15th April.
“There’s nothing in the world more important than good health. All of us have been struck at some time in our lives by illness or injury. When it comes, we rely on others to aid us, treat us and care for us. The people who do this are special people and deserve to be recognised. I am delighted that GMB is hosting the inaugural Health Star awards as they will shine a spotlight on those who most deserve it – the nation’s doctors, nurses, surgeons, care workers and charity staff who all do such a fantastic job.” – GMB host, Piers Morgan
