Two contestants quit The Voice UK just hours before transmission
The Voice UK was plunged into scandal this weekend after a contestant was forced to pull out just hours before the first live show due to drug use.
Beth Morris, coached by Paloma Faith, was due to perform on the first live show on Saturday (26 March) evening but pulled out earlier in the day. The show put her withdrawal down to personal reasons, now revealed to be a drug problem.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Morris, 26, admitted that she has been battling a drug problem and had taken cocaine during rehearsals. The drug taking did not take place on BBC premises, the report adds.
“I’m truly sorry I’ve let everyone down. But I’m determined to put this behind me, continue with my recovery and channel all my energies into my singing.” – Beth Morris, speaking to The Sun on Sunday
The talent show was dealt another blow on Saturday when Chloe Castro also pulled out of the show. The BBC says that Castro’s decision was due to health reasons and wished her all the best for the future. Chloe was on Team Ricky Wilson and had made it to his final three.
“I have decided to leave The Voice for health reasons. I have had a fantastic time and wish all the other contestants all the best in the competition.” – Former Voice UK contestant Chloe Castro
The semi-final of The Voice UK airs next Saturday on BBC One.
