Carla Connor celebrated in new Coronation Street book by Glenda Young
Popular Coronation Street character Carla Connor – who is played by Alison King – is the subject of a new book by lifelong fan of the ITV soap and author Glenda Young.
Marking a decade of Carla in the saga, ‘The Little Book of Carla Connor’ delves into the character’s electrifying life story with details on her being held hostage in a siege and surviving a fire; a bus crash; rape; suicide attempts; alcoholism and gambling.
The highs and lows of the reign of a true queen of the soaps is now in print.
“In a week that one soap queen, Peggy Mitchell, leaves our screens – it’s great to celebrate such an important milestone of another. Carla Connor has become one of the strongest female characters ever to appear in UK drama and her tenth anniversary should get the attention it so richly deserves.” – Glenda Young
Since Carla made her first appearance on the cobbles in 2006, she has become one of the most iconic, contemporary female characters in the soap world. Some fans even liken her to the legendary Elsie Tanner (Pat Phoenix).
Alison King announced that she is leaving the role of Carla earlier this year.
