Singer and actor Duncan James is joining Channel 4 serial Hollyoaks.

Best known as one of the singers with ‘boy band’ Blue Duncan has in the past few years become a well respected actor and television presenter. In the popular Channel 4 saga he will play Ryan, a new character who moves into the village with his family this summer.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Hollyoaks team! I’m looking forward to working with the fantastic on and off screen talent on the show and bringing the character of Ryan to life.” – Duncan James

As well as the pop career Duncan has also enjoyed success on the stage having starred in the West End productions of Chicago and Legally Blonde, and has recently been touring the UK starring in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert as well as appearing in Grease: The School Musical on TV.

The pop star to soap star is just the latest casting for the long running Channel 4 series, with the news earlier this month that former Byker Grove actor Andrew Hayden-Smith had signed up to appear as DS Armstrong.

“Ryan is a good guy in a committed relationship who will move into the village. He is a grounded family man with principles and integrity but who will fight tooth and nail for what he believes in.” – A Hollyoaks spokesperson

Hollyoaks airs weeknights on Channel 4 at 6.30pm with a ‘first look’ episode weeknights at 7pm on E4.
