Hollyoaks Pride to showcase their contribution to the LGBT cause

Lime pictures, the company behind Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, this week announced an LGBT+ documentary Hollyoaks: Pride series.

“C4 was created to give a voice to a minority audience so I think it’s incredibly important that Hollyoaks, as C4s flagship drama, gives that voice to LGBT+ viewers.” –  Bryan Kirkwood, Executive Producer of Hollyoaks

Hollyoaks: Pride is part of a new Channel 4 season 50 Shades of Gay which celebrates the contribution to the LGBT+ community in the last 50 years.

The show is a mid-form one-off documentary for All4, signalising how Hollyoaks has supported the positive representation of LGBT issues and characters to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of The Sexual Offences Act. The documentary features clips from the show’s most iconic moments and is narrated by the show’s biggest LGBT heroes past and present as well as supporters and influential LGBT figures.

Hollyoaks boxset episodes, which will be available on All4, will cover storylines such as: Ste and Brendan in Dublin, John Paul and Craig Dean’s first kiss, Ste Hay HIV storyline, Kim and Esther: the first ever soap lesbian wedding and Sally St.Clare’s moving story of transition.

Contributors involved include: Emmett J Scanlan, Kieron Richardson, Annie Wallace, Jazmine Franks, Tamara Wall, Ross Adams, James Sutton, Sharon Marshall, James Ingham, Darren Scott and Bryan Kirkwood.

“Contributor and Hollyoaks actor Kieron Richardson will also be exploring parenting in the LGBT+ community in another All4 documentary called Raised by Queers.” – Lime Pictures

Hollyoaks: Pride will air on All 4 on Saturday 24th June 2017.
