Jamestown concludes its first series tonight on Sky 1
One To Watch: Jamestown. The first series of the hit Sky Original Production from the makers of Downton Abbey reaches a poignant conclusion tonight.
In this the eighth and final edition, Jocelyn’s fate is sealed as a boat from England brings new women, new laws and a letter from Temperance’s cousin. With her scandalous secret on the brink of exposure, Jocelyn is seized by a reckless abandon that brings her close to losing everything.
She seeks comfort at the tavern, as well as an easy escape from the gallows. Meanwhile, Massinger underestimates Alice’s ingenuity when he finds a new way to attack the Sharrow’s livelihood and Alice tells Henry news that gives him a reason to rally.
Redwick strikes a covert deal that divides the settlement and places James Read in a terrible predicament. Consequently, as the farmers celebrate their summer harvest, a new chapter in Jamestown’s history begins.
“The first series of Jamestown is unique, beautifully shot and packed with compelling storylines full of adventure and emotion. It demonstrates Sky’s commitment to make the highest quality drama and has left us all wanting more. With Bill Gallagher drawing from the real events in this rich period of history for the next instalment of the series, it’s a fascinating story that we are thrilled to continue telling, especially that of the extraordinary women at the heart of the show, Alice, Verity and Jocelyn.” – Anne Mensah, head of drama, Sky
Sky 1 confirmed last month that their drama Jamestown will return for a further run of episodes. The story of the birth of a nation, Jamestown charts the early days of the first British settlers as they embark on new lives in America.
The eight-part second series, again written by Bill Gallagher, will see the ensemble cast, led by Naomi Battrick as Jocelyn, Sophie Rundle as Alice and Niamh Walsh as Verity, return for more adventures in 17th-century America.
“I am delighted that Sky 1 has shown such confidence in the series and given us the opportunity to work with Bill and our extraordinary cast again. We are looking forward to continuing our journey in the New World with the people who made American history.” – Gareth Neame, MD, at production company Carnival Films
