Corrie star Shayne Ward talks love triangle storyline
Shayne Ward, who plays Aidan Connor on the cobbles, joined Holly and Phillip today to talk about his current love-triangle storyline.
Explaining the plot, he revealed;
“At first he (Aidan) was confused, because he did fall in love with two women who both had great qualities…Since Maria (Samia Longchambon) instigated the affair again, now I don’t have any sympathy for Aidan, because he made that choice to cheat again, so he doesn’t know what to do now. But the pressure is on now, because he should finish it with Eva (Catherine Tyldesley).”
The singer and actor also revealed that the storyline has got fans worked up, noting;
“I was at a polo event just recently in Wales and I walked into the bar to get a drink and got a lot of things shouted at me. Which I think is great really…obviously it’s been portrayed well, and it’s working.”
He added: “If I was Aidan, I would literally run right now, because that (Eva) is a woman scorned.”
Shayne – who won the second series of The X Factor in 2005 – also spoke about his six-month-old daughter, Willow, telling Holly and Phil;
“I adore her, she’s incredible. She’s at the rapid-rolling stage at the moment…I just love her so much, I was always meant to be a dad, with Sophie, and we’ve created Willow. It’s been incredible. Sophie’s such an incredible mum, and I’m always working, and now actually Sophie’s just starting a new job, and she’s probably going to kill me for saying this, but I have to say it because I’m excited for you, but she’s just started Call the Midwife. I’ll be daddy day care.”
Of a potential revival of his singing career, Shayne said:
“It’s not completely on the backburner. What I appreciate from Coronation Street is…at first I thought it was one or the other, but a couple of the guys have released EPs or albums, like Bruno Langley and Catherine Tyldesley, so I mean, who knows? A lot of fans want me to release something, so it would be great to release an EP. But I do love Coronation Street, I’m very happy there.”
