Temporary EastEnders boss wants to keep Mick Carter and bring back old faces
Interim EastEnders boss John Yorke is keen to keep Danny Dyer and reintroduce some popular past faces to the BBC One soap, The Sun claims.
John Yorke who has been drafted in to sort out the soap opera’s latest mess.
It was announced on Friday that Sean O’Connor’s flop stint in charge of the production had come to an end with the BBC Press Office noting, ‘Sean O’Connor is stepping down as Executive Producer of EastEnders to concentrate on his feature film career’ amid the usual merry quotes.
The Sun, however, had a more colourful take on things with claims that O’Connor had both bullied cast members and felt bullied himself during his time on the show which has seen anaemic storylines, mediocre ratings, and a lack of awards.
The BBC announced that Yorke – who was previously at the helm of the saga between 2000-2002 – would be stepping in as ‘Creator Director’ on a temporary basis.
The Sun notes that ‘getting Danny Dyer to sign another deal and bringing back veteran Steve McFadden into a central role’ forms part of Yorke’s strategy. While the tabloid speculates that Kat (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) are also on his wishlist.
“John wants to meet each star individually to win back trust. His skill is getting an episode to build to a brilliant cliff-hanger which has been lost recently. He will be looking for real high-impact stories.” – The Sun’s source
