Channel X to produce Peter Blake documentary for Sky Arts

Sir Peter Blake pop art documentary to air on Sky Arts.

“Peter Blake is a fascinating character and we’re looking forward to telling the story of the relationship between his art and music. It’s great that 30 years since our first programme we are working on such a variety of projects and still creating original, quirky and iconic content.” – Alan Marke, Channel X’s MD

Channel X have been commissioned by Sky Arts to produce a one off 60-minute documentary on renowned British artist, Sir Peter Blake – Peter Blake: Pop, Art, Life.

Blake is a prominent figure in the pop art movement, and best known for co-creating the iconic artwork for The Beatles’ album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

The production company are also celebrating other successes too. After winning a Broadcast 2016 Award for Best Children’s Programme, children’s sitcom So Awkward is due to return to screens for a third series this summer. It has now been announced that CBBC have commissioned Channel X North to produce a fourth series which will see the three socially awkward friends, Lily, Martha and Jas, navigate the trials and tribulations of being a teenager.

In March, the BBC announced a third series of Mackenzie Crook’s hit BBC4 comedy Detectorists, which returns for a six-part series in autumn this year and continues to be executive produced by Alan Marke and Jim Reid for Channel X North and Lisa Thomas for Lola Entertainment and Treasure Trove Productions.

“We are thrilled with the latest re-commissions for ‘Detectorists’ and ‘So Awkward’, which will see us filming across the summer in the beautiful English countryside and urban landscapes of Manchester. We’re also excited to be working with Sky Arts again, following the success of our documentary ‘The Jam: About The Young Idea’ in 2015.” – – Alan Marke, Channel X’s MD
