“So @Lauratobin1 the @Hollyoaks lot have a bone to pick with u – it’s pouring down & we are filming outside today!!! Aargh my blowdry!!” – Kate Garraway on Twitter

The Good Morning Britain and Smooth Radio presenter is the latest in a long line of guest-stars who have popped into the North West based saga.

The 50-year-old ITV regular will make her soap opera acting debut in the long running show, but hasn’t revealed any details on her appearance when she announced the news on Twitter.

The Irish News report she will feature in a “big plot” with her scenes due to air in September. Kate isn’t the first GMTV face to feature in the soap with former sofa co-host Eamonn Holmes previously making a cameo during his time with Sky News.

Other famous news faces to appear in soap opera include Ben Shepherd of GMTV who made a cameo in Crossroads in 2001, while that soap saw Central News and their anchor Bob Warman appear in 1985 and Lorraine Kelly appeared as a police officer in a Coronation Street Christmas special back in 2012. Hollyoaks has lured in a number of star names over the years to the main show and spin-off series’ including Bonnie Tyler and Danny Dyer.

“Big thanks to the Hollyoaks gang for making filming my small part in a big plot for September so much fun!!! You are going to be gripped!!” – Kate Garraway stated on Twitter
