Alan Partridge to return to the BBC with new shows

Shane Allen, in charge of the laughs at the beeb, has confirmed that Alan Partridge will be back on both BBC One and BBC Two.

BBC Two will broadcast a 25th anniversary special before the end of the year – a one hour show marking 25 years since his debut on BBC Radio back in 1992. There will also be a series on BBC One next year.

“Alan Partridge is in the top tier of comedy characters of all time, it fills my comedy heart with joy to welcome him back to BBC One and BBC Two.” – Shane Allen, Controller of BBC comedy

Spoof radio DJ Alan Partridge was created by comedian Steve Coogan and Armando Iannucci for the BBC Radio 4 comedy programme On the Hour and has since featured in many radio and television productions for multiple broadcasters.

Both new shows are to be produced by Steve Coogan’s production company Baby Cow for the beeb.
