Huw Kennair-Jones leaves The Archers editor role

The Radio 4 soap is losing its boss to ITV.

Kennair-Jones joined The Archers in September 2016, having previously worked as a producer and commissioning executive at the BBC and Sky. Recruitment for his replacement will begin shortly, the beeb note.

“Huw Kennair-Jones has done a great job in Ambridge. It has been an eventful year in the village – Rob Titchener left for Minnesota, the cricket team admitted women for the first time, Jill Archer celebrated 60 years in Ambridge and Matt Crawford has returned to upset the apple cart. I would like to thank Huw and wish him well in his new role at ITV.” – Gwyneth Williams, controller of BBC Radio 4

He will be across continuing drama when he joins the ITV’s drama commissioning team this December.

“ITV has always been at the forefront of TV drama and I’m thrilled to be getting the chance to work on Coronation Street and Emmerdale, two of the UK’s most iconic programmes,” he noted of his new role. “The fantastic cast and crew of The Archers will always have a special place in my heart.”
